Your filing software files. It does not run your practice.
CompuTax, Winman and SAG Genius are very good at what they do: take a client's numbers and produce a correct, e-fileable return. That is real, skilled work and those tools save enormous time. But a practice is not a pile of returns. A practice is a rolling calendar of obligations across dozens of clients — audits, ITRs, GST, TDS, ROC — where the software that computes the return has no idea how many other clients are also due that week, which ones have not sent their data, and which deadline is about to pass unstarted. That gap is where a good firm loses money and, occasionally, a client.
The season where a single missed date costs you
Look at just the income-tax spine of the year for FY 2025-26 (AY 2026-27). These are the statutory dates; the CBDT sometimes extends them, but a practice that plans around extensions is a practice waiting for the year it doesn't come.
- 31 July 2026 — ITR for individuals and non-audit taxpayers.
- 30 September 2026 — tax-audit report under section 44AB. Audit applies broadly to businesses above ₹1 crore turnover (₹10 crore where more than 95% of receipts are digital) and professionals above ₹50 lakh gross receipts.
- 31 October 2026 — ITR for audit cases, and the transfer-pricing audit report.
- 30 November 2026 — ITR for taxpayers with transfer-pricing obligations.
- 31 December 2026 — GSTR-9 and 9C annual return and reconciliation.
- Company filings: AOC-4 within 30 days of the AGM and MGT-7 within 60 days — dates that move with each AGM, not a fixed calendar.
Now multiply that by every client on your books, each with a different mix of these obligations. The computation is the easy part. Knowing, on 12 September, that eighteen audits are unstarted and three clients still owe you data — that is the actual job.
Why a missed deadline is malpractice, not a mishap
When a deadline slips, the statutory penalty technically lands on the client — but the blame, the awkward phone call, and often the client themselves, land on you. Miss a tax audit and section 271B alone is 0.5% of turnover, capped at ₹1,50,000. Add interest under sections 234A, 234B and 234C for late filing and advance-tax defaults, GST late fees, and the harder-to-price cost: a client who now wonders what else you are quietly missing.
- A 271B penalty of up to ₹1.5 lakh for a tax-audit default — per client.
- Interest under 234A/B/C stacking up month over month on late filings.
- GST and ROC late fees that are small each but relentless across a client base.
- The reputational cost — the one thing a professional practice actually sells.

The tools are filing engines, not cockpits
Let us be fair to the incumbents, because they are good. CompuTax and Winman are dependable computation and e-filing tools. SAG's Genius is a solid all-in-one for return preparation. Suvit does clever work automating data entry and reconciliation from messy client files, and Vyapar's TaxOne is pushing into the same space. Every one of these is built to produce or file a return. None of them is the cockpit that, on any given morning, tells the partner which of two hundred obligations are at risk this week and who is the bottleneck. They file beautifully. They do not manage.
What "run the practice" actually means
The missing layer is not another return utility. It is the operating system of the firm — the part that treats a deadline as a commitment and a client as a relationship, not a PDF.
- A single deadline tracker across every client and every compliance type, colour-coded by what is at risk.
- An engagement view per client: what is in progress, what is waiting on data, what is done.
- A document vault so client papers live in one place, not across email, WhatsApp and a pen drive.
- Billing and WIP, so the hours you actually worked get invoiced instead of leaking away unbilled.
- Roles and an audit trail — articles versus partners — so you know who did what, and can prove it.
How BizRevolt fits — beside your filing software, not instead of it
We are not building another computation engine, and we are not asking you to give up CompuTax or Genius. The CA / CS Practice workspace is the cockpit around your filing tools — the layer that runs the practice while they run the returns. It is priced to be an easy yes: ₹1,499 for a solo practitioner and ₹4,999 for a firm.
- Deadline tracker and compliance calendar across ITR, GST, TDS and ROC for your whole client base.
- Client engagements, status and a shared document vault in one place.
- Time-to-invoice billing with WIP visibility, so unbilled work stops disappearing.
- Roles for articles and partners with a full audit trail on every action.
- Runs alongside CompuTax, Winman, Genius or Suvit — complementary, not a replacement.
You did not qualify as a Chartered Accountant to spend the season worrying you forgot someone. You did it to advise clients well and sleep in October. If you want to see your own client list sitting inside a single deadline view, talk to us directly — I read the WhatsApp myself, or call +91 91 0657 4865 and we will set it up with your practice in mind.
